The Gathering is a Duch metal band formed in 1989. They became very famous in 1994 when Anneke van Giersbergen, a female vocalist, joined the band and the album Mandylion was released. In the beginning their sound was darker and harder, but later they changed it into a more melodic metal keeping the unique Gathering style. The Gathering have released many albums until today and they are much appreciated by the metal - and not only - audience.
